V2X, an American defense and military technology company, has just unveiled the Tempest, its new missile-armed buggy.

According to Defence Blog, the new combat vehicle was presented during the 2025 exhibition of the United States Army Association (AUSA).

According to the company, the Tempest was specifically designed for short, discreet missions where mobility and survivability are crucial.

The vehicle can detect, track, and neutralize Class 2 and Class 3 unmanned aerial systems (UAS), even in adverse weather conditions, before repositioning to avoid enemy counterattack.

At AUSA, V2X showcased a prototype of the Tempest equipped with two AGM-114 Hellfire missiles and a compact tactical radar system.

The use of the Hellfire missile launcher configuration aims to increase the lethality of compact and mobile UAS defense systems, according to the company.

explained that the system was designed to handle overlapping mission types, sequentially or simultaneously, depending on operational requirements.

“The Tempest is a robust, commercial combat vehicle designed for fast, low-exposure missions,” said the company, as reported by Defence Blog.

is also offering a trailer-mounted version of the Tempest system for static or semi-fixed operations, including base defense and airfield perimeter protection.

Meanwhile, its modular radar component allows the platform to transition between mobile and stationary configurations without losing situational awareness or tracking fidelity.
